His Girl Friday

The fastest-talking newsroom in the history of the movies.

Star reporter Hildy Johnson walks into her old newsroom to announce she is quitting and getting remarried. Her editor, who also happens to be her ex-husband, has one day and one last big story to change her mind. The overlapping, rapid-fire dialogue still feels modern more than eighty years later.

Its copyright was not renewed, and the film is widely circulated as a US public-domain title.
